Beautiful Glass Nativity Ornaments

We were searching the web (for something totally unrelated) and somehow these beautiful ornaments popped up! I don't have the full instructions on how to make them, and it's too close to Christmas right now for me to pull it all together in time, but I wanted to share them with my readers, and I plan to get back to it next year.

This particular ornament is made by transferring the image onto acetate, and placing the acetate within the clear glass ball ornament. There is a sparkling craft "snow" added that falls into the base, and it is finished off with a lovely ribbon.

I am tempted to use a different process. I think I would rather cut the image from self-adhesive vinyl, and apply the vinyl to the glass ornament, then use a etching cream to frost the ornament, leaving the silhouette as the design. I think I might also add a small sparkling gem to the center of the star, and probably skip the snow inside. I do like the material chosen for the bow.

So we'll see how it goes next year. I will probably try one or both methods, and post new pictures as well as a pattern.

UPDATE: This has been shared through a number of websites, and I finally managed to track down a pattern. I'm not sure if it's the original, it reads as though perhaps this person made it for another blogger, but here is a website to give you a much better idea of how the ornament is made, and some patterns.
